About the Organization CP Rochester and Happiness House are private nonprofit health, educational, residential and human service organizations that have been serving communities in the Finger Lakes Region since 1969 and the Greater Rochester Area since 1946. Today with sites in Rochester, Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, Midlakes and Waterloo, our agencies offer an array of educational, therapeutic, recreational, residential and family support programs and services for children and adults with and without disabilities. On average, our agencies serve 3,650 families each year and employ approximately 600 people.


Our staff consists of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals and clinicians with expertise in the areas of Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Physical, Occupational, Speech and Music Therapies, Psychology, Service Coordination, Nursing, Dental Services, and Developmental Disabilities.

Description

Job Title: Dentist – Per Diem

Location: CP Rochester – Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY

Salary: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour commensurate with experience

Hours of Employment: This is a per diem position. Mondays and Tuesdays 8:00am – 4:30pm

Summary/Objective: Dentist is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of dental needs of the patients receiving clinical services or referred to CP Rochester.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery from an accredited educational institution.
  2. Must be licensed by New York State.
  3. Must be eligible to provide Medicaid and Medicare services.
  4. Clinical affiliation in developmental disabilities during education or work experiences in the field is preferred.
  5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  7. Must have a valid New York State Driver License and ability to travel in the Rochester, NY area.
  8. Computer literacy required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must have reliable transportation to travel between locations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  2. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
  3. Evaluates patients to determine the need for dental services.
  4. Establishes treatment plans for each patient.
  5. Provides individual dental services at CP Rochester sites certified by the Department of Health.
  6. Provides preventative and restorative treatment to CP Rochester patients.
  7. Provides in-service education to staff of CP Rochester, caretakers and other interested groups as requested.
  8. Counsels and works with patients and families.
  9. Completes all required documentation for agency such as insurances, Medicaid and Medicare.
  10. Completes, submits and maintains all records in accordance with the standards of regulatory agencies governing the operation of CP Rochester.
  11. Completes billing as required per regulatory agency.
  12. Participates in program planning, development, research and evaluation under the direction of the department director.
  13. Participates on committees, attends conferences and receives additional training at the request of the department director or the administration of the agency.
  14. Achieves program or department goals by performing other responsibilities as required.
  15. Attends meetings as assigned.
  16. Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.

Work Environment: This job operates in a dental office environment. This role routinely uses standard dental equipment and office equipment.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear clearly. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently pull and push wheelchairs (from 250-300 pounds) and be able to assist in lifting an adult. Will incur prolonged periods of standing, leaning and bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day but employee may be expected to work at any of our partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
