An opening is available for an Assistant Wastewater Operator in the Watershed Services Department. Overall duties include, but are not limited to providing assistance to plant operator, starting and stopping pumps, loading and unloading chemicals, adjusting pump speed, collecting wastewater samples, monitoring wastewater elevations, etc., while working toward the goal of becoming a state certified Wastewater Operator within 18 months of service in the position. Position progresses to Wastewater Operator when Class III Georgia Wastewater Certification is obtained. Applicants already in possession of a valid Georgia Wastewater Certification Class III or higher would be considered for direct placement into the Wastewater Operator position.
Shift and Scheduling:
This position is a 12-hour shift, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., 4 days on/4 days off. Shift rotates from day to night every 4 months.
Required Skills:
Must be computer literate and able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to obtain a Class III Wastewater Certification. NOTE: Employees are eligible to begin testing for the certification after 3 months of experience and 40 hours of classroom training.
Education/Certification/Licensing Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Pay Range:
$16.25/hr - $19.30/hr (Assistant Operator - Not Certified)
$18.90/hr - $26.25/hr (Class III)
$22.27/hr - $31.85/hr (Class II)
$25.65/hr - $37.30/hr (Class I)
