SUMMARY

Asa Carlton Holdings, LLC, a holding company for a number of commercial construction and specialty services companies headquartered in Braselton, GA has an opening for the position of Controller. We are currently seeking an experienced, self-starting, goal-oriented and successful finance leader to be located in our newly constructed headquarter facility in Braselton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and finance operations of a successful privately held group of construction and real estate companies. We are a nationwide construction and specialty service company. We conduct business in all contiguous 48 states and Puerto Rico (for limited select national clients).

Key responsibilities will include preparation of monthly financial statements, cash statements, tax reporting, forecasting, prepare and oversee operating budgets, financial data analytics, operational compliance, and other accounting related duties as assigned by the key stake holders.

This position provides support for coordination of best practices for accounting procedures, human resources, systems, and activities related to efficiency to the business operation.

Position Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Hands on and oversight of all accounting functions including staff management.
  • Ensures compliance with multi-state and jurisdictional regulations and requirements.
  • Understands accepted business practices and law.
  • Assists with contractual obligations (Insurance for building, business license).
  • In charge of all reporting requirements including various analytics and regular reporting to the owners.
  • Establishes and manages all accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Knowledgeable of local and federal tax practices (construction industry).
  • Assist with vendor management, invoice coding, and multi-business unit accounting.
  • Reviews accounting procedures specifically relating to production, labor costs, payroll compliance, and accounts receivable/payable.
  • Interface with certain third-party support providers such as accounting, banking, insurance, etc.
  • Support and oversight for 401k program (Principal).
  • Interface and train operations staff on appropriate reporting.
  • Have a working knowledge of all major client contracts to support billing, change orders, etc.
  • Provide support and input during certain major client proposals, participate in calculations of certain client proposal metrics such as billing rates, unit pricing, etc.
  • Compile various reports and forms for client prequalification processes.
  • Strong managerial presence with experience in that role.
  • Direct report to the two company owners, working alongside and supporting the company president and executive team.
  • Oversight for the human resources department.
  • Management of the company fleet vehicles including mileage, maintenance, valuation, buy/sell timing, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Organizational

  • Supervise staff including accounts payables, human resources, and other accounting related functions.
  • Oversee and maintain all internal controls.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Establish and maintain key working relationships with staff, internal, and external customer/ client relationships.
  • The position will prepare departmental budgets for senior management review.
  • Establish financial protocols to support the financial and accounting function.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • Knowledge/experience in a construction-related industry is required.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ hands on experience senior accountant role required.
  • 3-5 years in a Controller finance/accounting position.
  • Ability to quickly establish relationships with CFO, CEO, executive-level managers and buyers of large corporations and agencies based on credibility, value, and trust.
  • Possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and financial problems.
  • Have the ability to analyze financial results to support the operation.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Excel.
  • experience with Sage Accounting and Paperless software – highly desirable
  • Multi-state construction accounting experience.
  • Professional work ethic and demeanor, ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the Controller is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk to hear. The Controller is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms. The Controller must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
