SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager, the Lead Retail Associate will be responsible for customer service, cash register operations and all related duties involving cash flow for the Retail Store. This position is also required to support all front and back end team members, participants and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide support and training to Retail Associates.
  2. Performs daily cash register sale transactions and customer service.
  3. Open and closing responsibilities (i.e. balance cash drawers, record/log register totals and bank deposit).
  4. Examine price sheets and regulate ticket price changes.
  5. Ensure sale items are properly marked and tagged.
  6. Administer and redeem promotional coupons.
  7. Ensure store sale items are properly merchandised and arrange front display window and in-store displays and oversee the stocking of shelves and display racks.
  8. Complete and ensure the accuracy of required paperwork (i.e. daily cash receipts, sales and carryout slips, deposit slips, ID Notes and Incident Reports).
  9. Monitor fitting room access, return product to designated area and ensure room is clean and safe.
  10. Greet customers, answer telephone, respond to customer inquires in a professional manner.
  11. Provide active engagement, routine health and personal care support (i.e. eating, toileting, and exercising) and assistance with daily activities.
  12. Utilize appropriate methods for working with individuals with intellectual and or physical disabilities.
  13. Review all plans of participant(s) within your care.
  14. Support Person Centered Plan (PCP)/Service and Action habilitation plans and data documentation to ensure they are implemented on a day-to-day basis and collaborate with the Case Manager as needed.
    1. Provide appropriate supervision to all participants to whom you are assigned, per their PCP plans and designated ratio level.
  15. Comply with all Federal, State (Desert Regional Center) and local regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures.
    1. Report suspected Mistreatment to your supervisor or Case Manager immediately (per OV policy) and no later than 24 hours via incident report, as mandated by state law.
  16. Assist with walk in donations.
  17. Assist with preset production sales goals for the store.
  18. Provide training and assistance to ensure that all donated items are accurately sorted, processed, priced and stocked.
  19. Assist in overall daily operations within the store.
  20. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) ) immediately as mandated by state law.
  21. May be assigned other duties as needed.

All Retail Associates, participants and volunteers working at the thrift store.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to be flexible, supervise team members, evaluate emergency situations and prioritize work load in order to meet strict deadlines; have flexibility when working with changing priorities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to perform basic cash transactions and arithmetic.
  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: One (1) year verifiable work experience in related field in a lead or key holder role (i.e. retail sales and cash handling experience).
  • Required: Current CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment
  • Required: Current CPI certification within 30 days of employment
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
