Summary

The Director of Quality oversees the Quality Control department at one or more manufacturing locations. Guides, leads, and mentors team members within the Quality Control department(s). Drives change in processes and procedures that ensure quality products. Interacts with cross-functional team members to ensure products and processes adhere to regulatory and customer requirements. Ensures the Quality Management System (QMS) is compliant with AS9100/AS9102/AS9145/ISO14001 and FAA standards.

The Director of Quality acts as the main point of contact with customers.

The Director of Quality is a leader, developing and supporting company goals and objectives while maintaining high morale and motivation within the areas of responsibility. Supports the direct and indirect reports in their development and career growth.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives.
  • Plan, direct or coordinate quality assurance programs and formulate quality control policies.
  • Manages Quality team(s), which include Quality Managers, Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, Quality Supervisors, Quality inspectors and Quality support personnel.
  • With the support of Quality Manager(s), measures performance of Manufacturing Operations through the use of various data. Can collect, compile, and analyze data to determine both root cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of quality system programs in compliance to AS9100, AS9145, AS9102. ISO 9000:2000, ISO14001, and FAA requirements along with any additional regulatory requirements imposed by other agencies.
  • Support overall plant operations by providing technical support, training, and leadership.
  • Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization, maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Manage and drive the non-conforming material system and review processes which includes the following; Material Review Board (MRB) activities and is responsible for ensuring proper dispositioning of the suspect nonconforming product has been carried out, assigning responsibility and ensuring the DMR’s have been addressed and closed as required once the review has been completed.
  • Develop, implement, and manage statistical sampling plans, procedures, and statistical techniques all related to receiving inspection.
  • Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements and company core values.
  • Other duties & functions may be assigned to this position as needed.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required:

  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in various quality management positions within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing).

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • SMT experience.
  • AS9100 and AS9145 Experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt.
