We are hiring for the 2024-2025 school year.

Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in our 5th decade in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. First founded in 1968, the high school opened in 1973, and has maintained its core mission of maximizing the God-given potential of each student, preparing them to live lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ. We provide a Christian worldview education with academic excellence, arts, and athletics. We are accredited by Cognia and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). SCA conducts pre-employment and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is also required.

The Innovation and Creation Hub Teacher applies creative and valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum aims and make a positive impact on 6th -12th grade student learning. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) with a biblical perspective. Beyond preparing lessons/projects and grading assignments, this applicant will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This teacher will report directly to the Middle and High School Principals.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:

  • Education & Certification
    • Bachelor's Degree in a science, engineering or education-related field from an accredited college is required; Master's Degree preferred.
    • Past experience teaching S.T.E.A.M. related classes preferred.
    • State teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Training in education and best practices in teaching is preferred.
    • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods.
    • Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
    • Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of FACTS a plus.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, carry, pull, push, climb, and kneel, walking and standing approximately 50%-75% of the workday.
    • Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of principles of STEAM and coordinate project-based learning activities for the Innovation and Creation Hub based on the concepts of CAD, coding, and circuitry. Knowledge of 3-D printing, project-based learning, robotics, and laser cutters is also required.
  • Demonstrate an interest in subject integration and applied learning. Partner with classroom teachers to enhance their current lessons and research potential lesson plans and use of the space for them.
  • Develop and enhance a comprehensive K-12 curriculum working in conjunction with the elementary HUB instructor that provides a cohesive scope and sequence that can be adjusted and advanced over time. This curriculum should be reviewed and approved by the SCA Administrators/Principals.
  • Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
  • Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials that will creatively reach the whole student - spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional.
  • Promote student engagement and inspire student leaders to participate in the growth of the program.
  • Develop and grow the Innovation and Creation Hub program through authentic applications, competitions, and the creation of a STEAM Club that will provide relevant learning opportunities before and after school for students.
  • Assess the progress of each student regularly, using the prescribed tools effectively.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for the students while monitoring and managing students' behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules.
  • Attain an ACSI 2-year Temporary Certificate within the first year of employment and an ACSI Standard Certificate within 3 years of employment.
