SUMMARY

The Development Director will serve in a leadership role, developing and executing a strategic engagement plan that leads to broader awareness, planning and executing corporate, foundation, individual donor and charitable planned giving programs. The Director of Development will help lead the Fundraising team in maintaining and growing the Opportunity Village Foundation through the solicitation of major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation support, planned giving, and annual appeals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create and execute a comprehensive development plan that builds strategic, collective fundraising capability needed to generate diverse and sustainable revenues including: Annual Giving, Endowments, Legacy Giving, Grants, Event Fundraising and Capital Campaign.
  2. Identify, manage, and solicit current and new high-level prospects, to increase the number of corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
  3. Seek out and obtain unrestricted donations to meet specific annual fundraising targets.
  4. Manage and develop a team of fundraising professionals. Provide training, coaching and guidance that increases results with individual portfolios.
  5. Use Donor Perfect software to track, solicit and report on all prospects.
  6. Support in preparation of accurate, accessible, and esthetically pleasing quarterly reports and campaign progress reports for leadership team and Board of Directors.
  7. Assist in budget preparation.
  8. Plan and implement ongoing programs to cultivate planned gifts, including recognition programs for donors who have remembered Opportunity Village in wills and bequests.
  9. Serve as liaison to Legacy Society committee to inspire maximum participation and engagement.
  10. Work closely with department heads to understand program funding needs and create opportunities to attract major donor, corporate, and foundation support.
  11. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  12. Some travel to a variety of locations in the Las Vegas area and between Opportunity Village campuses.
  13. Ability to work after hours and on weekends.
  14. May be assigned other duties as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position oversees the work of the grant team members and corporate philanthropy team members.
 
Position Requirements

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with donors.
  • Ability to create and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead events, projects, campaigns, and represent the organization effectively.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Display a high-level of integrity and professionalism; creative, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Strong external networking and relationship building skills.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Fundraising, Nonprofit Administration, Business or a related field.
  • Required: Five (5) years successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising, annual funds and direct response, with demonstrated results in personally identifying, asking for, and securing major gifts.
  • Required: Professional fundraising experience with a demonstrated history of cultivating and soliciting significant gifts ($100k-$1m) from existing donors and high-net-worth prospects from donors as well as corporations.
  • Preferred: Experience with Donor Perfect or other donor database software.
