Summary:

The Community and Volunteer Engagement Specialist will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Director of External Affairs to maximize annual giving, grant funding and year-end giving revenue. This position will create strategies to secure donations, manage the donor/volunteer database, and maintain updated content for grants. The position implements and maintains Green Country Habitat for Humanity's (GCHFH) volunteer engagement and community relations outreach plans. This role is responsible for developing and implementing annual and year-end giving plans while reporting the effectiveness of the plans.

Essential Functions:

  • Research, edits, and oversees the production of persuasive and accurate proposals, grant requests, collateral, and communication materials to support activities with Write On Fundraising.
  • Ensure timely delivery of grant requests, applications, letters of interest, and reports.
  • Ensures efforts to accurately document and maintain the donor database.
  • Ensures proper and timely donor recognition.
  • Responds to data information requests as they arise and produces regular donor reports.
  • Works with the marketing department to support coordinating and managing events with programs aimed at donor and volunteer engagement.
  • Works with the Director of Exterior Affairs to build a shared annual outreach and volunteer calendar for all internal and external community events.
  • Builds, manages, and shares the digital GCHFH outreach calendar aligning goals within all GCHFH departments. Includes community relations, onsite volunteer events, home dedications, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Collects goals and data with measured results from GCHFH employees before and after attending community events. Includes tracking lists of individuals who successfully attend or interact during an event.
  • Reports and tracks the effectiveness of each outreach event that GCHFH participates in throughout each quarter of the fiscal year to leadership team.
  • Proactively works with the Vice President of Development and the Retail Marketing Specialist to coordinate targeted volunteer and community outreach opportunities.
  • Supports GCHFH staff to provide customer service and technical assistance in coordinating potential organizations in participating in onsite volunteering.
  • Identifies and coordinates local community event opportunities for Homeowner Services, Retail Operations, and Marketing/Development Departments according to targeted GCHFH communication goals.

  • Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of professional and ethical standards, emotional intelligence, and decision-making skills.
  • Have strong learning agility, active listening skills, interpersonal/cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, strong persuasive, written and oral/presentation skills.
  • Apply a superior attention to detail and documentation.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and experience in managing events and other complex activities in support of development objectives.
  • Community and Volunteer relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Possess personal leadership with strong priority management and self-motivation.
  • Take initiative to solve problems creatively and approach your work with critical thinking, sound judgment, adaptability, flexibility, and responsiveness.
  • MS Office applications Proficiency within an MS Windows Operating System (particularly in Excel).
  • Experience with internet-based research and database management (ability to learn new software as required by job).

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of documented professional experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
