RCN Capital, LLC is a national, direct, private lender providing real estate investors with financing for the purchase or refinance of non-owner-occupied single-family & multi-family properties. We are looking for a Tech Lead, tasked with leading our engineering team and guiding our technological evolution. As part of this key role, you will facilitate our transition to a modern, cloud-based infrastructure, while applying AI technologies for document reading, classification, and business automation. Working alongside product owners, QA specialists, and directly under the VP of Technology, you will be a driving force in strengthening our technical landscape.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Lead the global engineering team, implementing best practices, reviewing code standards, and ensuring a high degree of technical competence.
2. Effectively collaborate with product owners and QA specialists to develop best-in-class, robust, and scalable solutions.
3. Oversee the development, improvement, and maintenance of our PHP-based loan origination system.
4. Spearhead the transition of our legacy system to a cloud-based platform using technologies like AWS or Azure.
5. Engage with stakeholders to understand system requirements, and ensure the implementation of suitable technical solutions.
6. Present regular reports to the VP of Technology about project progress, challenges, and suggest strategies for improvements.
7. Other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Required Skills:

1. Expertise in PHP, JavaScript and other related web technologies.
2. Proficiency with cloud-based platforms, specifically AWS or Azure.
3. Understanding of modern software development methodologies including Agile and Scrum.
4. Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a tech team.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills with strategic and analytical thinking.
6. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

1. Familiarity with AI technologies in relation to document reading, classification and business process automation.
2. Knowledge of modern technologies and frameworks, such as Angular, React, Node.js, etc.
3. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including product owners and QA specialists.
4. Strong project management skills.

Required Experience:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in PHP development with proven leadership roles.
3. Demonstrated experience in successfully transitioning from legacy systems to mordern cloud-based infrastructures.

Preferred Skills:

1. Prior experience in the mortgage or the financial services industry.
2. Proven track record of implementing AI technologies for business automation.

Education:

1. Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

2. Master's degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Schedule:

1. Full time

2. Hybrid work model

3. Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM EST
