GRAPHIC DESIGNER - PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

Mills James is seeking a dynamic person to join our Pre-Professional Program as Graphic Designer in Live Events, This opportunity is ideal for those looking to jumpstart their career in this dynamic field.

This entry-level Graphic Designer position allows you to directly collaborate with experienced professionals at Mills James in the design of dynamic event based graphic content, including PowerPoint and Keynote presentations, print and digital signage, logo design, proposal creation and the operation of presentations for live events. As part of our team, you'll acquire practical skills in visual storytelling and technical know-how, while contributing to diverse projects that tell engaging stories.

The Mills James Pre-Professional Program provides recent college graduates an opportunity to obtain on-the-job work experience in preparation for a career in the communications and production industry. During the six-month session, often called the "audition" period, you will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week. Your skill sets need not cover the full range required for full-time associates. Displaying initiative and a willingness to learn will help you get the most out of your time in the program and add to your value in the marketplace.

At the sole discretion of Mills James, Pre-Pro associates who demonstrate outstanding skills and qualities may be offered the opportunity to continue in the program for a second six-month session. However, an individual's participation in the program will not extend beyond one year or guarantee a full-time position.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or four years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Design skill, including knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  3. Experience in building and managing presentations in both PowerPoint and Keynote.
  4. Comfort in both digital and print disciples.
  5. High attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects is required.
  6. A high degree of adaptability to a continually changing environment, including the ability to adapt multiple workflows to shifting deadlines.
  7. Required to obtain U.S. Passport and medical card if necessary. Must be available for 30% travel and work flexible hours.
  8. Must submit a design portfolio to be considered for the opportunity.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and other duties that may be assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Coordinate the effective use of graphics in live events by integrating design aesthetics to communicate brand, event vision, and messaging, as directed.
  2. Create design concepts, presentation templates and content for use at live events, virtual events and experiences.
  3. Travel on location to event venues and corporate offices to work directly with clients, producers and the production team to operate, cue, create and edit presentation content.
  4. Set up and tear down their own equipment while on location at events.
  5. Organize and archive final presentation materials and design files within the graphics library and provide them to producers or clients as requested.
  6. Work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced, live environment.
  7. Work closely with marketing manager and content writers to create proposals, marketing pieces and other internal design work as needed.
  8. Problem solve technical issues that may arise in a live event setting.
