The program driver is responsible for coordinating and providing the day to day transportation needs of the individuals while utilizing a person-centered approach to assist the individuals in fulfilling their desires and needs for an independent life.
This position will assist with the overall maintenance, safety and security of facility vehicles by performing a variety of inspections and tasks to keep the vehicle in good working order and safe for transporting the individuals. This position will also complete documentation and turn in receipts for the purpose of tracking usage and performance of the vehicles. This position will work cooperatively with the Program and Nursing Departments to provide efficient and effective transportation for the individuals and the Maintenance Department for the overall repair and maintenance of each vehicle. A cooperative team approach is important to ensure individual needs are being met.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is primarily in a vehicle transporting individuals, at the facility inspecting or returning vehicles or at an offsite location picking up individuals. Offsite locations will include local and out of town locations. Hours will include early morning, day, evening, weekend and holiday hours depending upon the needs of the individuals and activities. On an occasional basis will include Sunday church rotation and overnight hours for special events and camp. Mandatory overtime may be necessary on occasion. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and maintenance guidelines
Knowledge of driving regulations, defense driving techniques and ability to operate a vehicle properly and safely.
Knowledge of 4 point tie-down system.
Ability to understand and promote a person-centered philosophy
Knowledge of proper interactions with individuals with disabilities.
Knowledge of proper interactions with medical personnel.
Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control, Client Care and Patient Rights guidelines.
Knowledge of area hospitals, physician offices and medical complexes.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to drive a passenger bus, van or other company vehicle necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently and adhere to transportation schedules and timeframes.
