Description

Astronics Advanced Electrical Systems is seeking a Value Stream Supervisor to join our cohesive Manufacturing Operations Team in Kirkland, WA.

This is a First Shift position. Hours are Monday ~ Thursday, 5:30am ~ 4:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The Value Stream Supervisor works in collaboration with Value Stream Managers and production team members to align on and deliver on team objectives and business priorities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on new product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Monitors and maintains:
    • On Time Delivery
    • TTM Reductions (total time to manufacture)
    • Lead Time Reductions
  • Provides input to budget process and makes operational decisions in alignment with approved budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Promotes and supports a culture of learning: Assess and baseline current employee competencies and capabilities (product knowledge, experience strengths and opportunities). Establish short and long-term cross-training and career development plans for each employee based on initial assessment and future Team requirements.
  • Initiate, support and drive continuous-improvement projects within the factory to help meet demand and requirements for safety and quality. Responsibilities include:
    • Product Quality & Process Mistake-Proofing Improvements (Waste elimination & Root Cause/Corrective Action)
    • Product Cost Reductions
    • Productivity improvement
    • Rework Reduction (Prevention & TAT improvements)
  • Works collaboratively with other operational leaders, VSM, and employees to establish and maintain 5S standards of excellence and adherence to Operational goals.
  • Collaborates with Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Program Management, and others to meet company objectives for product quality, customer delivery
  • Enforces policies and regulations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in a technical discipline or business preferred. In lieu of degree, will consider H.S. Diploma combined with work experience in a direct supervisory or related operation support role.
  • Two years’ experience in Operations supervision preferred. Five years’ experience directly supporting operations, with proven success leading projects and/or teams required.
  • Demonstrated expertise employing Lean Principles.
  • Recognized as a leader with excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.

As a direct people manager, the Value Stream Supervisor will have proficiency in process and people competencies as follows:

  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships — Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards — Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • ERP experience

Physical Abilities:

  • This role requires a great deal of responsibility in time sensitive situations requiring frequent decision making
  • This is a leadership role requiring frequent public speaking across functions and conflict resolution, as needed

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to loud/machine noises
  • May be in an environment where there is a risk of electric shock. All employees are required to have training on that risk and exercise care around electricity.

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing pre-employment background check and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis. 

Base salary range for this position is $79,923- $118,940 per year.
