SUMMARY:
The Java Engineer role plays a pivotal role in the IT Department. Reporting to the Chief Architect, this position is responsible for the design and development of enterprise grade, high-volume web applications platforms and state of the art technical solutions leveraging Java and JEE platform technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and implement Java-based applications and software solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and specifications.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Conduct code reviews, debug issues, and troubleshoot problems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with QA engineers to develop and execute comprehensive test plans; contribute to the evaluation, prototyping and selection of software solutions.
  • Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in Java development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in Java programming or related technologies is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years proven experience as a Java Developer or Java Engineer, with a strong understanding of Java programming language fundamentals.

SKILLS AND COMPETENTCIES:

  • Proficiency in Java frameworks and libraries such as Spring, Hibernate, or similar.
  • Experience with web application development using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL query writing.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle).
  • Deep understanding of REST and SOAP/XML APIs
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
