What You Would Be Doing
We want people to join our team who share our values of love, excellence, respect, empowerment, and well-being. The ideal candidate will work as part of the Billing Team to ensure services complete the “revenue cycle” appropriately from billing Medicare, Medicaid, MCO’s, commercial carriers through the client statement process.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Insurance
- Verification of insurance benefits and eligibility
- Obtaining prior authorization for services (on Availity and/or carrier websites)
- Review charges entered by clinicians for accuracy and/or errors before creating a claims file
- Preparation and submission of claim files (creating and uploading 837 files to clearing house)
- Maintain knowledge and compliance regarding Medicare/CMS, Medicaid, managed care plans, and commercial carriers’ reimbursement policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Insurance appeals for inappropriately paid claims and/or denials
- Maintain knowledge of expected payment for services (contracted fee schedules)
Accounts Receivable
- Post insurance payments to patient/client accounts in a timely manner (835 file upload to the system and manually posting of paper payments)
- Working ERA’s and EOB’s identifying and posting contractual adjustments and moving appropriate co-payment/co-insurance to patient/client or transferring to the secondary payer.
- Actively works insurance aging reports to ensure open AR goal is met (open claims 0-60 days)
- Actively works patient/client aging reports sending monthly statements and reaching out to patient/client via phone and/or email when accounts are past due
- Works with patients/clients to set payment arrangements
- Follows billing policies and procedures set by Boundless management
Customer Service
- Maintains positive communication and relationships with all contacts (patients/clients, clinicians, physicians, third-party payors, and other Boundless staff) to ensure excellent customer service
- Professional written and verbal communication with patients/clients regarding billing and/or insurance issues
- Professional written and verbal communication with insurance carriers, provider relations representatives regarding a claim or provider issues
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, some college coursework a plus
- Experience in medical billing and collections, as well as insurance verification.
- Knowledge/experience billing Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance and managed care plans
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
