NATURE OF WORK
This is part-time human service position involved in coordinating the department’s food service program for seniors.
An essential part of the duties of this position is assisting in developing a flexible and anticipatory organization that will provide cost-effective and customer-friendly delivery of quality services to the community. This includes developing new ways to deliver both the short and long-term needs of South Windsor residents consistent with the Town’s goals and objectives.
Work is supervised by the Human Services Director. Work is reviewed regularly for overall program effectiveness and efficiency.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversees and participates in the preparation and serving of CRT meals at senior center; essential duties include kitchen preparation for lunch service, receiving meals from CRT, checking that correct amount are delivered, performing temperature checks of delivered meals, pre-heating ovens/steam trays for meal warming, serving meals to seniors, clean up of lunch room and kitchen after meals, run dishwasher
Scheduling monthly Meals on Wheels volunteers, checking Meals On Wheels deliveries and packing these meals for delivery by MOW volunteers; communicates regularly with Caseworker who handles the intakes of MOW to keep track of delivery and distribution of meals on wheels
Maintaining cleanliness standards in the kitchen pre-and post meal service
Participates in CRT training as required; preparation of statistical data as required by CRT
Signing up seniors for lunch, collecting and depositing money at an off-site bank, sending receipt and reports to CRT.
Communicates regularly with Director of Human Services or designee to ensure program efficiency
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required.
