A day in the life of a Staff Accountant:

  • Responsible for various accounting duties including general ledger maintenance, expense management, accounts payable, and budget reporting.
  • Provide general accounting support to the accounting department.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly close, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of business transactions.
  • Ensure proper classification and recording of revenue, expenses, and other day-to-day accounting items.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Assist in year-end audit and other audits, tax filings, and examinations as necessary.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and/or analysis as requested by management or other departments.
  • Fixed asset processing and reporting.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and monthly budget reforecast.
  • Prepare schedules and workpapers as requested by third-party tax and audit firms.
  • Support SOX compliance initiatives.
  • Perform other various projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety and compliance and report any concerns of non-compliance in any area to your manager immediately.

Position Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial statement relationships
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including intermediate use of Excel
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization

Preferred Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Medical (DMEPOS) industry background
  • Great Plains
  • Noble House
  • Multi-state sales tax experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • In an 8 hour day the employee lifts/carries less than 10lbs frequently
  • In an 8 hour day the employee stands/walks 1 hour
  • In an 8 hour day the employee sits 7 hours
