Position Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Electrician person’s responsibilities are as follows:

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical components of industrial equipment.
  • Working as a team member or alone to complete projects.
  • Observing safety procedures and meeting electrical codes.
  • Making decisions based on technical documents.
  • Performing quality testing and inspections.
  • Lay out and install complex wiring circuits in conformance to established codes.
  • Diagnose and remedy electrical troubles, repair and replace electrical components.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, repair, or replace equipment, components, wiring, or circuitry.
  • Provide emergency repairs to production equipment.
  • Work from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, PLC logic, and electrical code book; use all required electrical measuring and testing devices.
  • Install electrical conduits EMT, Rigid, CPVC, and Flexible conduits.
  • Size conduit for number of conductors.
  • Install and run cable tray.
  • Work from heights
  • Be able to use electrical tools, Benders. Threading machine, cutting equipment, meters, ladders, man lifts, and hand tools.
  • Be able to work and trouble shout AC and DC power.
  • Be able to work and trouble shout single and 3 phase power from 110 volt to 480 voltages.
  • Fault analysis of hardwire relay logic control circuits, VFD`s and motor power circuits (120v to 480v 3phase) and common utilities/ lighting circuits ethic.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.
  • Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.
  • Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc.
  • Be willing to take off hour calls and to work some weekends and holidays.

Work Experience:

  • Journeyman experience or the completion of an apprenticeship program.
  • Industrial chemical plant experience - preferred

Work Schedule: 

  • 4-10 Schedule 
  • Controlled overtime

Skills and Competencies:

  • Have general knowledge of plant safety rules
  • Must be able to read and interpret an MSDS, also know the location of the MSDS book
  • Knowledge of our quality policy and objectives
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication.
  • Industrial electricians must be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions.
  • They must be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position.

Physical Requirements

  • The work of industrial electricians can often be physically demanding. To install and repair equipment, they may need to crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • They must also be able to operate tools near electrical components.
  • The team member is occasionally required to sit.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing between 200-500 pounds.
