INTRODUCTION

 

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Outpatient Primary Care Physician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care, conduct thorough examinations, and formulate treatment plans for a diverse group of patients in an outpatient setting. Your expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of health conditions will be pivotal in promoting the well-being of our community. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct initial patient screenings and patient history and physical examinations.
  • Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment.
  • Diagnose patients’ medical issues and prescribe medications or refer them to specialists as necessary.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up care and monitoring of patients’ conditions and recovery.
  • Educate patients and their families on their medical issues, treatment plans, and preventive care to improve their quality of life.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to plan comprehensive patient care.
  • Manage the overall health care of assigned patient panels, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
  • Collaborate with other physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families.
  • Adhere to all relevant medical laws and regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education activities and maintain current knowledge of advancements in the field.
  • Contribute to the efficiency of the practice by managing time effectively and seeing patients promptly.
  • Utilize an electronic health record system to document patient care.
  • Ensure that patient care meets or exceeds the facility quality

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient care preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality patient care
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems (specifically EPIC)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with medical best practices and standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to participate in on call as part of a rotation, if required
  • Experience with telemedicine and remote patient care is a plus
  • Capacity to manage a diverse patient population with a variety of health issues
  • Adherence to all legal and ethical guidelines pertaining to the practice of medicine

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid medical degree from an accredited institution on MyMichigan Health approved list of medical schools
  • Board certified or board eligible in a relevant specialty
  • Current state medical license and DEA certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

About the Organization MidMichigan Community Health Services is a federally qualified rural community health center (FQHC) based in Houghton Lake, Michigan. We provide primary and specialty health care for all, with a particular emphasis on access for the underserved.



We are headquartered in beautiful Houghton Lake, Michigan. Northern Michigan has an abundance of year-round activities for all. Our community offers great fishing, beautiful parks and beaches and is home to the largest inland lake in Michigan. Exploring Northern Michigan will provide the opportunity to explore wonderful parks, great public beaches which include swimming, playground equipment, barbecues and pavilions. From fishing to disc golf, our local parks are sure to provide fun for all. Additionally, the area provides plenty of hiking and nature trails, and over 200 miles of ORV trails.



Our organization was founded by concerned residents in the early 1970s to address the severe shortage of primary care in our area. We are still run by a local volunteer board of directors, helping to ensure that our services meet the community's needs.
