GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Convenience Store Manager’s overall responsibilities include: managing the store’s budget, monitoring and reporting on the Store’s financial performance, through the day-to-day operations of a multi-million-dollar retail convenience store. The Store Manager will supervise and manage the sales of gasoline, tobacco products, convenience store goods, chicken deli, and car wash to the general public, in a manner that will result in outstanding customer service to our guests. The Store Manager shall implement and enforce established daily operating procedures to ensure the store is clean, adequately stocked, organized, well managed and profitable.

DUTIES:

  1. Supervision of staff including, hiring process, training, discipline, scheduling, paid time off requests and complete evaluation as required for all areas of the business including the C-Store, chicken deli, and carwash operations.

• Follow and enforce all Company Policies and Established Procedures in the store operations

• Conduct Store meetings as needed with employees. (A minimum of one meeting monthly)

• Assist in the recruiting of, recommend for hire, and train, positive individuals to become members of the “Little Star” Team, ensuring excellent customer service.

• Motivate, encourage, and challenge store cashiers towards excellent customer service, and accurate performance of their jobs and daily tasks.

• Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within and a favorable image of Little Star Convenience Store.

• Establishing and communicating store goals and results to all employees,

• Staffing the store and delegating the workload, actively supporting employee growth, and upholding Little Star policies.

  1. Active participation in the safety of employees, customers, and store assets:

•Enforce all Safety and Security Issues and report any and all unsafe conditions.

• Conduct regular Safety and Security Meetings and document employee’s attendance by signatures.

• Report and process all employee and/ or customer incidents or accidents following Store procedure.

• Ensure cleanliness of the building and grounds, to maintain attractiveness, as well as safety.

  1. Ordering, purchasing, and displaying products by

• Developing and maintaining vendors that will provide products in a timely manner, at a favorable price.

• Coordinate contract approval process for vendor contracts.

• Implement promotions, insure all POS advertising/signage is properly posted at the proper time.

• Maintain an inventory control system (software) to receive orders before stock depletion.

• Communicate and perform all price change request, mark downs / ups as requested by Management.

• Communicate any problems with merchandise pricing to Vendors and Staff.

• Implement and enforce all merchandising and vendor policies and procedure

• Monitor daily retail gasoline competitors, adjusting the retail price, and sending the prices to management in a timely manner as established by management.

• Maintain quality brand image standards as pass evaluations.

• Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed in a safe manner.

  1. Performing accounting functions to manage and report sales and income as follows:

• Ability to learn the software required by management for store’s operations.

• Ensure accurate till reconciliation on a daily/monthly basis

• Develop and Monitor annual budgets and provide reports as assigned.

• Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and drive offs daily.

•Analyze and accurately report financial and statistical data, based on daily operations

• Understand the financial reporting submitted to management on a daily basis.

• Complete a physical inventory of all the stock on a monthly basis.

• Use Excel to develop pricing spreadsheets and inventory analysis.

  1. Practice excellent customer service skills at all times to include, but not limited to,

• Addressing employee needs courteously and promptly.

• Promote and resolve customer complaints, in a timely and professional manner.

• Setting an example for the entire store by practicing great customer service.

  1. Professional Duties:

• Must follow and enforce established dress code including uniforms and dress requirements.

• Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.

• Responsible for the store profits, and all controllable expenses including labor, inventory levels, and cash and inventory shortages.

• The Convenience Store Manager shall be responsible to perform all the duties of a day-to-day working manager and shall work behind the counter as a clerk if the business requires it.

• Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management

• Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.

• Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.

•Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.

• Must participate in employee random drug testing program.

• Must be able to work with a variety of people with diverse personalities.

• Establish store goals with assistance from the Business Developer.

• All other assigned duties.

Position Requirements

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.

2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description

3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record

4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An Associate Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or Hospitality Management with two years previous successful experience supervising and managing a retail business operation

required OR, a high school diploma or GED with five years’ previous successful experience supervising and managing a retail business operation is required.

  1. Must be willing and able to obtain A/B UST Certification.
  2. Must be willing and able to obtain Serv-Safe Manager Certification.
  3. Must pass a basic math exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to interview process
  4. Must pass a basic retail exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to interview process
  5. Must pass a basic accounting exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to interview process
  6. Must have documented, demonstrated management experience to include staff supervision, budget development and monitoring, purchasing, pricing and inventory control.
  7. Must have documented, demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and manage at least two or more employees.
  8. Must have documented, demonstrated ability to handle money (cash, checks, charge cards, etc.) is required.
  9. Must have the ability to learn and use software compatible with convenience store operations.
  10. Must be able to work and perform in a fast paced environment, where teamwork is essential.
  11. Must have ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, customers, management and sales representatives necessary to effectively carry out job duties.
  12. Must be able to use Excel to perform pricing spreadsheets involving tax discounts and rebate coupons.
  13. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing using clear and concise terms.
  14. Physical Requirements:
  1. Frequently sit and stand
  2. Occasionally walk bend/stoop, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel and push/pull.
  3. Carry or lift 50 pounds of retail merchandise for stocking, shelves and set up of displays.
  1. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours that will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  2. Will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule.
  3. Will be required to work when employees call in sick or do not arrive for schedule.
  4. Must have a resident telephone and be able to meet strict work schedule start times.
  5. Must maintain confidentiality in all business matters.
  6. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  7. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.
  8. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  9. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  10. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position
  11. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must submit to periodic communicable diseases’ screenings and maintain a non-communicable disease status. (Such as TB and Hepatitis A)
