Description

Foster Care Social Worker needed for full or part-time, direct hire or temp to perm positions working in Burtonsville, Annapolis and Harwood, Maryland.

The Foster Care Social Worker is responsible for supporting youth who are placed in the foster care programs.

This role operates as the treatment team leader for all aspects of the child’s treatment and ongoing assessment of foster family and child functioning and progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Youth Services:

  1. Complete assessments of the child’s needs and completes written psychosocial and brief initial treatment plans,

  2. Supports youth through the creation of treatment goals with the child in care and all other defined stakeholders; including treatment plans, coordinating the treatment team, and assessing child progress toward treatment goals.

  3. Provides individual, family, and group therapy, in-home training, and crisis intervention services to foster youth and families as needed,

  4. Implements and supervises the provision of all prescribed services for youth in care; developing, locating, or providing service as needed,

  5. Assures that each youth attends and obtains documentation for all necessary medical appointments.

  6. Represents the children and the agency in-person or through written reports at all meetings pertaining to the child such as court hearings, school, and other social/community events, as needed,

  7. Provide transportation for youth to necessary appointments as required and appropriate.

  8. Designs and monitors individual behavior programs in conjunction with youth and foster families, as needed,

  9. Conducts weekly or semi-weekly home visits to no more than ten youth (locations are spread over several counties) and document all visits,

  10. Maintains a case record for each child that includes all required documentation with regards to case activity, incident reports, discharge summaries, or individual and family therapy sessions,

  11. Maintain regular contact with individuals important to the child’s treatment such as placement workers, school staff, community mental health providers, etc…

  12. As appropriate, maintains contact with birth families and facilitates visits between the child and their birth family,

Foster Parent Services:

  1. Support foster parents through regular contact and support,

  2. Provides after hours crisis intervention on-call duty on rotation schedule,

  3. Support recertification through collection of required documentation as required by licensing department,

  4. Complete recertification home studies of current foster families for licensing renewal,

  5. Represent the foster families in all meetings with state stakeholders, legal proceedings and other venues as appropriate.

Administrative:

  1. Participates peer file reviews, as assigned, in addition to program file reviews of youth and foster parent files,

  2. Enters all youth data into CSOMS, the online data collection system, including all CANS assessments,

  3. Participates in pre-service trainings, youth independent living trainings, and monthly foster parent ongoing training as assigned (designs and conducts parent and child groups, as needed)

  4. Attends weekly supervisory sessions and all foster care staff meetings,

  5. Attends agency in-service trainings as instructed by supervisor, or as required by agency policy,

  6. Maintains an active social work license in the State of Maryland,

  7. Participates in program and agency-related special events,

  8. Submit monthly program statistical reports, mileage logs, and items for personnel file,

 

SUPERVISION: The Social Worker is supervised by the Program Director or designee.

Salary/Compensation - $30-$40/hr. $62,400-$83,200/year

 

 
Position Requirements

The Social Worker must have at minimum a Bachelors in Social Work with Maryland State Licensure.

Preferred possession of a Master Degree in Social Work with Maryland State Licensure.

Experience with youth in the child welfare system required.
