Description

JOB SUMMARY:      Responsible for the oversight of the DCF-funded Housing First Initiative and other housing initiatives, as needed.  Responsible for assisting clients with locating and accessing safe and affordable housing and preventing homelessness by providing housing-related assistance.          

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Design, implement and monitor individual program plans for residential and non-residential clients who are in need of housing and/or in need of financial assistance to maintain their current housing
  • Assess client needs in an effort to collaboratively develop a housing stability plan; investigate their eligibility for services and/or funds
  • Maintain client records and complete required documentation according to agency and accreditation standards; this may include, but is not limited to data entry, progress notes, activity reports, budget spreadsheets, time sheets and logs
  • Network with other providers and landlords to generate community resources for participants and provide advocacy, as needed
  • May provide supportive counseling in individual and group settings related to housing/economic needs
  • May transport consumers for appointments with landlords, housing searches, etc.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete housing needs assessments with Safe House residents and non-residential clients who are in need of housing and/or financial assistance, in an effort to connect domestic violence survivors with available housing funds
  • Provide crisis intervention, referrals, and transportation as needed for clients
  • Assist clients in researching and locating affordable, safe housing
  • Identify affordable housing and financial referrals/resources for clients via mobile advocacy and community engagement
  • Facilitate the use of funding to support clients in their housing stability goals; budget and track the use of this funding
  • Collaborate with other organizations to develop and build partnerships for housing related referrals/resources
  • Provide training, education and support to landlords to encourage availability of rental units for survivors
  • Participate in community meetings where housing is discussed/addressed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client records, budget spreadsheets and reporting as needed

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in the social services or criminal justice fields preferred and/or related experience and project coordination desired.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED:  Valid driver’s license required.

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:  Providence House is a 24-hour residential program, as such requires staffing at all times.  When accepting a position with this agency it is important to know that the regular shift at the time of hiring is subject to change during the course of your employment, and that at times of staff emergencies or special events you may be required to fill shifts other than (instead of) your regular shift. This may include holidays.
