RCN Capital, LLC is a national, direct private lender providing time-sensitive, bridge financing to real estate investors to fund the purchase of non-owner occupied residential and commercial properties, provide bridge loans, and provide real estate-backed lines of credit.

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their fast-paced lending team. The Senior Underwriter will manage a pipeline of loans including non-traditional hard money loans, fix and flip, and bridge loans, along with loans fitting RCN's other products. On a day-to-day basis, this position will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and making decisions on mortgage underwriting files to determine compliance with corresponding loan programs. This includes data validation, credit review, entity compliance, borrower/investor experience, and analysis of collateral. It is key for the Senior Underwriter to have a strong understanding of RCN Capital's loan programs as well as an understanding of the lending life cycle. Candidates will possess exemplary attention to detail, be self-motivating, as well as have the ability to make data-driven decisions independently, while managing risk and ensuring the quality and compliance with company and investor guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a loan pipeline, within Service Level Agreements, on a daily basis in relation to RCN Capital's suite of loan programs.
  • Review loan files for accuracy, creditworthiness, and compliance.
  • Manage risk.
  • Consistently provide quality reviews to the Loan Committee, addressing major challenges, and properly condition for missing items for a quality loan file to be sold to our capital partners.
  • Remain up to date on Underwriting Guidelines and changes to Loan Programs
  • Communicate with Underwriting Manager and internal partners quickly and effectively to ensure that loans move through the process efficiently and the best possible customer experience is had.
  • Provide a mentorship type experience to internal partners.
  • Additional tasks, projects, or assignments as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professional by phone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Exposure and proficient use of MS Office Suite, including Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Required Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in underwriting
  • Experience in private or hard money underwriting strongly preferred.

Education:

  • 4-year college degree in business, finance or equivalent, or commensurate work experience

Schedule:

  • Full Time
  • Hybrid work model - 2 days/week in office after 90-day onsite training period
  • Monday-Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM
