Experience Required: 3 to 5 years of experience as an electrical technician. 2+ years of experience working on surface ship HM&E controls systems. Experience tracing signals and diagnosing or isolating cause for electrical failures. Experience with grounded and ungrounded systems. Technical Skillsets Required: Familiarity with embedded control systems both centralized and decentralized. Understand electronic control systems and how they interface with sensors, pumps, and other mechanical and electronic equipment. Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to include the ability to use a digital multimeter. Advanced knowledge of electrical principals to include understanding the difference between current, voltage, and resistance as well as how to effectively troubleshoot associated circuits. Ability to use an oscilloscope and signal generator. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. Proficiency with a personal computer (PC). Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook). The ability to learn new PC applications as needed. Problem solving ability. Attention to detail and meticulous logging of testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings. Advanced Skillsets Desired: Advanced computer skills to include use of HyperTerminal, Putty, or an equivalent serial interface. Ability to use a VME Bus analyzer. U.S. Navy shipboard engineering experience. Professional written and oral skills are required. Additional Requirements: Have at least three (3) years of relevant experience. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time if required. Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
