Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in our 5th decade in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. First founded in 1968, the high school opened in 1973, and has maintained its core mission of maximizing the God-given potential of each student, preparing them to live lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ. We provide a Christian worldview education with academic excellence, arts, and athletics. We are accredited by Cognia and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). SCA conducts pre-employment and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is also required.

The Part-Time Development Assistant handles the administrative and communication-related tasks of various fundraising campaigns and activities including working with donors, managing a database, and working with key stakeholders. This person shall be spiritually mature and shall reflect the purpose of the school, which is always to honor Christ. This position will most likely start in April/May and is a 12-month position.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:

  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Two years of relevant experience preferred.
    • Experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Friendly and engaging interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Professional telephone etiquette with the ability to deal tactfully and confidently with callers and visitors.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Excel experience required.
    • Must be able to work intuitively and independently.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Position requires mobility, including bending, lifting (up to 15 lbs.), pushing, walking, use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment.
    • Regularly required to listen, physically direct, and speak .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and schedule one-to-one meetings for the Advancement Director with prospects, donors, and select individuals via phone calls, texts, emails, etc.
  • Assist Advancement Director with managing prospect planning and sending Advancement communication.
  • Provide stellar customer service, timely acknowledgment, and ongoing communication and support to prospects and donors including scheduling meetings, and providing email follow-ups, personal thanks you and follow-up calls.
  • Manage and update donor mailing list and email database for Advancement department communications.
  • Work with external development/leadership company to keep donor records updated and enter donations in a timely manner.
  • Accurately track the progress of individuals through the development process using customized software.
  • Coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders to oversee the production of major fundraising campaigns and events such as the Annual Soaring Fund.
  • Work with key stakeholders and assist with vendor solicitation and communication for large fundraising events such as the annual Gala and Golf Tournament.
  • Review weekly report sent by external development/leadership company and ensure all information is up to date.
  • Assist Advancement Director in formulating clear year-end giving messages to donors and community members.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to assist with the creation of SCA Business Directory.
