Autism Support Specialist 

Description

OCCK is looking for an Austism Support Specialist to join the team!  This position will offer supports, and assist in the development of skills with a child/young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with children ages 0 to 21 years old to provide ABA therapy
  • Gathering resources for families/parents as needed
  • Making connections with schools trying to meet with kids during the day as well
  • Marketing Autism Services in the community, meeting with community partners
  • Attending team meetings as requested by families (IEP’s, school meeting, wrap arounds, etc)
  • Lesson planning sessions for ABA therapy
  • Cleaning toys/ working areas used after each session to avoid transmitting illness
  • Meeting with new referral families to complete intake packet to get services started
  • Gathering information for referral process such as diagnosis, Kan Be Healthy, evaluations, etc via fax, email, etc to get services started
  • Communicating regularly with families of where they are in the intake process/in services
  • Keeping Q90 database up to date including Q90 Resource Center
  • Keeping Customer Files up to date including data tracking and daily encounters
  • Assisting in preparing the Autism Newsletter
  • Attending training's as requested and required by state, OCCK and supervisor
  • Taking incoming Autism information and referral calls
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • High School Diploma

  • Valid Drivers License and acceptable driving record to meet the insurance providers fleet policy requirements for coverage

  • Must pass background checks: Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Adult Protective Services (APS), Child Protective Services (CPS), Nurse Aide Registry, and Motor Vehicle screen

  • At minimum 1 year (2000 hours) of work experience with children with autism
