The Position:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides leadership and promotes excellence in pediatric, family-centred ambulatory nursing care. The Neuromotor RN will collaborate with the interprofessional team, partner with the client and family, provide client/caregiver education, work with the client/family to set goals for maximum independence and establish plans of care to maintain optimal wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers ambulatory care nursing in the outpatient Neuromotor service 
  • Provides holistic family-centred care to infants and children who have neuromotor and/or developmental disorders
  • Collaborates with families to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care provided
  • Interacts with interdisciplinary team members and community health care providers to ensure an optimum and integrated approach to care is provided
  • Provides outpatient nursing care that promotes patient safety and supports the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual well being of clients and families
  • Provides client teaching related to wellness, disease, and/or disability management
  • Advocates on behalf of the client/family to support quality outcomes of care
  • Coordinate services with health care providers and follow-up with team recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Membership in RNAO preferred
  • Current BCLS certificate—Basic Rescuer
  • Requires skilfull, rapid assessment competencies of client problems and needs
  • Previous job-related experience, preferably in a paediatric or rehabilitation setting
  • Experience in working with clients with neuromotor disabilities preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills, Meditech experience preferred
