Job Purpose:

The Erection Foreman is responsible for managing project activities, providing leadership, and directing work crews safely to achieve business goals while maximizing profitability in accordance with company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.

Description of Essential Duties:

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate project activities to achieve business goals maximizing company productivity standards and profitability.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and manage project work crews safely to fulfill customer requirements, schedules and the safe utilization of company products and services.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, develop corresponding improvement plans, and execute contract improvement efforts to enhance business relationships with client.
  • Direct, manage, and report site operating performance data, communicating results to senior management, subordinate managers, and employees.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to matters such as safety audits, hours worked, production status, manpower requirements, and project completion dates.
  • Develop and communicate a daily plan (in advance) with supervisor, suppliers, engineers, inspectors, and owners to assure the proper equipment, supplies, permits, and manpower are available for projection execution to avoid costly delays.
  • Communicate and train employees on improvement opportunities learned from inspections and share industry best practices.
  • Maintain an organized work area free from any unnecessary hazards associated with the work being performed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises all crew personnel; communicate work activities to crew daily.
  • Establish goals and expectations for crew personnel for each project.
  • Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provide reports and updates to Senior Management team weekly or as required by company or client.
 
Position Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • Ability to process complex time sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions based on this data, and to effectively communicate the related required actions to a broad audience.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to read blueprints, plans, specifications, etc. to effectively communicate with customers, company employees, and customer employees at job site.
  • Proficient with use of erection derrick and three-drum hoist; proficient with use of hydraulic pump and cable-strand tank jacking system.
  • NCCCO certification for fixed cab (TSS) and swing cab (TLL) telescopic boom cranes.
  • Proficient in shielded metal arc welding (6010 and 7018) and flux core arc welding processes.
  • Ability to pass weld test(s) in horizontal, vertical, and overhead position per ASME Section IX.
  • Ability to identify welding defects (porosity, undercut, lack of penetration, etc.) by visual inspection.
  • Proficient with use of gouge rod, cutting torch, grinder, wire brush, etc.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use hands and fingers to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of equipment, material and/or tools which may include lifting 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) above shoulders. Must also be capable of climbing onto trailers or trucks to secure and move equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The employee works in high precarious places, is potentially exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is also regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times. Extensive work-related travel. The employee must be available during traditional and non-traditional hours (40 plus per week) to complete assigned tasks according to contract or job requirements.
