Description

Summary/Objective

Plans, establishes, implements, maintains and manages the company's occupational health, safety, and environmental programs for all locations to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. Responsible for year-over-year improvements in Safety and Environmental.

Essential Functions

Follows all IATF16949 Procedures and Work instructions in the performance of these duties.

  1. Maintains the ISO14001 Environmental System in the Sintered Metals - Ridgway facility and all the necessary training and procedures to adhere to all governmental requirements for hazardous & harmful materials and manufacturing equipment.
  2. Serves as the company's contact person for all health & safety regulatory agencies, i.e. OSHA, state, county and federal permitting agencies, EPA, DEP, air pollution control, etc for all facilities.
  3. Serves has the main contact person to customers regarding compliance to all environmental regulations in our products (i.e. REACH, RoHS, TSCA, SVHC, and California Prop 65)
  4. Maintains the companies forklift program including testing and training for all facilities.
  5. Conducts the monthly Safety Committee meetings and works with all the safety committee and other staff members to assure the safety of all employees.
  6. Participates in Safety Committee meeting minutes. Responsible for scheduling annual safety committee recertification for all facilities.
  7. Performs hazard assessment (Job Safety Analysis) for all positions and establishes specific training requirements to ensure each employee is trained and understands the hazards of their job responsibilities.
  8. Responsible for new employee occupational health, safety and environmental orientation.
  9. Leads the investigation of all incidents and near miss accidents to minimize reoccurrence and prepares the incident investigation root cause analysis.
  10. Follows up on all EHS corrective actions to ensure completion in a timely manner.
  11. Manages all SDSs for all facilities.
  12. Conducts regular compliance audits and safety inspections of the facility and initiates corrective actions to eliminate hazards and promote a safe work environment. Responsible to report out findings to the Executive Team.
  13. Organizes and schedules OSHA-required and specialized safety and training programs.
  14. Assists the managers and employees in ensuring adherence to company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  15. Assists in leading, motivating, and fostering a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce incidents and injuries.
  16. Assists in supervising emergency response and evacuation procedures and corresponding practice drills.
  17. Purchases various safety supplies.
  18. Maintains safety files, training and records.
  19. Coordinates accident investigations and criminal act investigations occurring on company property.
  20. Performs other duties which correspond to the overall function of this position as directed.

Supervisory Responsibility

There are no direct reports to this position. This position has overall responsibility for the environmental, health and safety programs at all facilities.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 
Position Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associate degree in safety, environmental, business or related field.
  2. At least one year of manufacturing experience working in a safety or environmental role.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, business or related field.
  2. At least three years in a management role.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Proficient with Microsoft 365 Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook
  2. Ability to navigate through and add documents to various online document control centers
  3. Must be able to understand and translate laws and regulations that apply to EHS functions
  4. Efficient oral and written communication skills
  5. Must exhibit exceptional leadership skills
