Title Clinical Lab Toxicologist Responsibility The extraction technician is responsible for preparing necessary solvents, specimens, and other components for the extraction laboratory. Specific Duties Prepare urine and oral fluid specimens for extraction using established standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ability to create stock solutions, QCs, and calibrators, monitor expiration dates, and pipette appropriately. Prepare solutions for manual and automated solid phase and dilute and shoot extraction. Operate automated sample handling instrument. Adhering to the laboratory's quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance. Following the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and either correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor. Document new and opened reagents, calibrators, and quality controls for the EIA. Perform testing under the on-site direct supervision of a general supervisor. Education Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Toxicology or a related science License NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT), restricted to toxicolofy Experience 1 year pertinent laboratory experience Skills Good oral communication Able to read and interpret information Listens and gets clarification Able read information quickly and retain it for use in processing Edits work for spelling Strong technology skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Ability to learn Able to work in a team-oriented environment   Position Requirements Physical Requirements Standing or sitting for an extended period of time Able to lift 25 lbs.
