Summary

BETAH Associates is a professional services firm seeking a Health Communications Specialist. The Health Communications Specialist will serve as a health communications expert responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of major, complex public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns. The Health Communications Specialist will also be responsible for supporting communications planning and implementation, strategic marketing, and communications support, brand integration, content development, strategic partnerships, developing and disseminating email broadcasts, social media messaging, webcasts, blogs, and e-newsletters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support communications strategy and message development
  • Support the development of and execute effective and integrated communication plans, including strategies and tactics across all channels, and leveraging all communication opportunities
  • Develop clear messaging and channels for different stakeholders
  • Manage, develop, and maintain an editorial calendar and other key strategic tools, as requested, to implement, evaluate, and evolve internal communications
  • Manage communication projects, including tracking, reporting status, project budgets, and measurement of tactics
  • Write, edit and clear content as well as manage information dissemination about programs and activities through internal and external communication channels, including institute and agency newsletters, articles, webcasts, presentations, blog posts, websites, talking points, social media, and video

Health Communications Specialist Position Overview:

The Health Communications Specialist will be key in developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to enhance client products, brand, reputation, and engagement with partners and key stakeholders. This position requires a skilled communicator with a strategic mindset, capable of crafting compelling messages and utilizing various communication channels to achieve organizational objectives and social media goals.

The Health Communications Specialist will be a pivotal member of our team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives that effectively convey the client's and organization's mission, values, and key messages. This role requires a dynamic individual with a keen understanding of health communications strategies, an excellent writer, a flair for creative content development, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Health Communications, Health Education, Public Health, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience supporting communications and social media content development for an organization or brand, particularly related to health and science communications initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in strategic communications, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. Familiarity with Associated Press and GPO style guidelines is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze data, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence tools, desired.
  • Proficiency with Word and Microsoft Office required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time, meet schedules/deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply plain language and cultural competency principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies in alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Collaborate with leadership to identify key messaging priorities and target audiences.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Craft compelling and consistent content for various tactics s, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media updates.
    • Ensure all communication materials adhere to brand guidelines.
  3. Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, public relations, and other departments, to ensure consistent messaging.
    • Provide communication support for various projects and initiatives.

Note: This position requires a candidate with a strong background in public health, understanding of health communications principles, excellent writing skills, and a passion for leveraging social media to disseminate health-related information.
