Full Time Pediatric RN

*****$5,000 Sign-On Bonus******

COVID vaccine will be required unless medical / religious exemption. Seeking a Full time RN for a nationally renowned pediatric endocrine program in Hawthorne, NY. Pay rate will be approx. $70,000-$75,000 negotiable based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in completing physicians' tasks in task box, such as renewing scripts for physician sign off and returning patient phone calls. 
  • Run the Abbvie Assist Program 
  • Review plan of care with parents after patients are discharged from hospital.  
  • Assisting in reviewing physicians PAQ. 
  • Order samples of all Endocrine medications for patient trials.  
  • Completing patient tasks from MDs 
  • SMN forms. 
  • Triage phone calls from parents, school nurses, and patients over the age of 18 y/o.
  • Administer growth hormone injections. 
  • Obtain prior authorization for medications, DME insulin pumps, dexicom devices, glucometers, test strips, etc.
  •  Speak with Pharmacies to provide prescription clarifications and or calling in new scripts for MD's.
  • Speak with Insurance companies to provide clinical information to back prior authorization for medical devices or medication. 
  • Write appeal letters when medication (insulins, Lupron etc) or devices (Omnipod orDexcom etc) get denied. 
  • Speak with school nurses to clarify MD orders if a patient has new orders or has a high or low blood sugar or malfunctioning device. 
  • Assist with growth hormone pharmacy phone calls by calling specialty pharmacy to clarify medications and doses. 
  • Newborn screen reviews if any information comes into the office or phone calls, ask MD for orders contact babies PMD and send information to Jane to F/U. 
  • Assist co/workers with any clinical questions. 
  • Fax new orders to pharmacy 
  • Speaking with drug/appliance?reps about products and delivery. 
  • Assisting Doctors or anyone in any way that is necessary at any time.
  • Give parents reassurance during the growth hormone shortage. 
  • Mediate between pharmacy and insurance companies when parents are angry to achieve positive outcomes. 
  •  Assist with any clinical tasking as required
  • Phone calls to parents regarding their child's medication or DME supplies and addressing any concerns they may have about their child. 
  • Phone calls with school nurses regarding school orders and high or low blood sugars and directing them with the right steps to take next. 
  • Providing school nurses with school orders for the patient. 
  • Faxing prescription order forms or any other forms that need to filled out and faxed back for the patient. 
  • Queuing and sending prescriptions to the doctors. 
  • New Onset Diabetic patient education for diabetics. 
  • Writing letters of medical necessity for patients. 

 ALTERNATE DUTIES 

  • Set up & maintain accounts for various formats that are utilized regularly – dexcom clarity, aspn portal/alto portal/glooko/carelink/t:connect/libreview 
  • Set up deliveries for certain medications (lupron/supprelin/etc from specialty pharmacies); document 
  • Speak to insurance/dme and specialty pharmacies/ companies for varied reasons. pa requirements, verbal orders, benefits investigations. calls can last as long as 2+hours some less than 5 minutes.
  • Delegate certain activities with staff (mofs in particular) pa requests/phone calls/ order lupron from abbvie assist.  
  • Maintain brochures. sample organization  
  • Initiate cps referrals. 
  • Assist GH coordinator as needed

Position Requirements

Minimum Experience and Licensure Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Current RN license required
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred
