Supervised by/Reports to: Aging and Disabled Services Area Mgr. Department: Aging & Disabled Services Division: Tribal Administration

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This position manages a component within the Aging and Disabled area services and is responsible to coordinate services to ensure a cohesive delivery of services to eligible elder and disabled populations. The manager is responsible for delivery and management of defined services for elders and disabled clients, related to congregate & home-delivered meals, referrals for elderly chore and visitation services, designated elderly transportation, benefit and referral services and managing grant funds in order to maintain funding integrity.

 

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description.
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.

 

DUTIES:

  1. Responsible to directly manage and ensure compliance with all aspects of designated grant funded programming and to maintain fund integrity.
  2. Responsible to implement programs that will provide: congregate and home-delivered Nutrition services, various Transportation services, delivery information and assistance with referral and benefit services and, Referral and Benefit Services, assist in the coordination of Chore Worker referrals Elder Visitor services, and other applicable services. This list in not all inclusive and may changes as opportunities present themselves.
  3. Responsible for grant application and survey process to maintain and include multiple year funding and work with multiple grant award fiscal years.
  4. Responsible to assist Tribal Community Health Nurse (CHN) with initial/annual assessments for the Home delivered Meals and Respite Care Services.
  5. Responsible to provide information regarding activities, programming, budget needs, and make recommendations to the Aging and Disabled Services Area Manager for the Stockbridge/Munsee Elderly Steering Committee.
  6. Responsible to provide direct supervision to designated defined staff.
  7. Responsible for maintaining a record and filing system.
  8. Required to maintain a working knowledge of state and federal regulations associated with the Elderly Program.
  9. Assist Activities Coordinator in the execution of all activities and special events by providing necessary support resources and completing planning duties. Including assisting with pre, prep and post activity/event duties.
  10. Receive Elder abuse complaints and report to the Aging and Disabled Services Area Manager.
  11. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  12. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  13. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  14. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
  15. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have an Associate’s degree in Social Services, Business or Administration or a public service related field.
  2. Must have a minimum of one-year supervisory work experience.
  3. Proficiency of Word, Excel, Outlook is required.
  4. Time management and effective organizational skills a must
  5. Must have previous experience with maintaining confidentiality. Must be able to follow verbal and written direction.
  6. Must possess effective writing and oral communication skills (includes group communication skills.)
  7. Must possess a high degree of concern, sensitiveness, and understanding of elderly and/or handicapped persons.
  8. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check.
  9. Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
  10. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  11. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  12. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  13. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  14. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
  15. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.
  16. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
  17. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage under the employer’s Employee Dishonesty policy.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be sensitive to elderly needs and possess the ability to communicate with the elderly and other resource persons.
  2. Elderly persons will be given special consideration.

3. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
