SUMMARY

The Production Control Manager manages all aspects of direct materials, production planning, shop floor scheduling, inventory, shipping and receiving. As a member of the plant leadership team, this position will hold a key role in the Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning Process (SIOP), as well as provide purchasing support as applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Environmental/Safety Requirements
  • Implement a fully functional supply chain management/production control infrastructure.
  • Maintenance and accuracy of shop floor data in the ERP system (customer order entry, inventory, labor reporting, resource planning, etc.)
  • Inventory control by managing inventory levels and counts on a defined frequency basis
  • Forecasting Sales/Order demands, purchase component forecasting, along with raw material.
  • Production planning/scheduling
  • Distribution and logistics
  • Responsible for shipping and receiving department
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing concepts and techniques by analyzing inventory turns, waste reduction, and product flow efficiency to optimize customer satisfaction
  • Leads root cause analysis on all discrepancies found in the inventory control and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop, implement, and execute procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas such as sales, finance, operations and quality.
  • Monitor programs and procedures to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. Maintains in-depth knowledge of company systems and processes. May occasionally travel to "core" customers to better align customer expectations with APG systems and processes. Provides "Voice of the Customer" (VOC) perspective to the operational efforts of the organization.
  • Works with the current sales infrastructure in reviewing or performing market analyses to verify customer needs are addressed, pricing is consistent, surcharges are applied, and discount rates are considered in support of a coordinated commercial effort.
  • Assists Sales Team in troubleshooting orders that require special handling. Responds to customer inquiries and problem solving in a professional and effective manner.
  • Supports the administration of material surcharge implementation and customer notification. Activities associated with this support include; maintenance of the material "blend book", active monitoring of commodity indices, quarterly component pricing updates and required authoring of communication to affected customers. In addition, actively support Accounts Receivable, when needed, in the timely collection of past due material surcharge invoices.
  • Follow all IATF16949 Procedures and Work Instructions in the performance of these duties

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business management preferred, with minimum 5-7 years production control/supply chain management experience.

Experience with expediting, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices and relevant software applications.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in industrial engineering, business or supply chain.

Purchasing experience, a plus
