GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be crossed trained in order to act as a floater type position assisting several staff in multiple areas within the Aging and Disabled Services Department but will have primary duty of sharing meal delivery duties and putting the monthly elderly newsletter together.

DUTIES:

  1. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  2. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  3. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  4. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures, and land use codes.
  5. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.
  6. Must complete and submit variety of reports and logs, such as Home-Delivered Meal Log, Weekly Activity Reports, Mileage Report and Inspection Report.
  7. Assist the Elderly Driver:
    1. Daily meal delivery to homebound clients, route will vary.
    2. Assisting elders with shopping
    3. Escort elderly to door and help with carrying purchases.
    4. Medication pick-ups
  8. Will be the lead on creating the monthly Elderly Stream Newsletter;
    1. Gathering information,
    2. Laying out publication
    3. Printing labels
    4. Assisting other staff in folding and stuffing envelopes for mailing.
  9. Assist with Cook position with:
    1. Preparation and packaging of meals for delivery to home-delivered meal participants.
    2. Dishwashing duties
  10. Assist Medical Transport with:
    1. Transporting clients to medical appointments; using applicable funding sources services area guidelines.
  11. Assist the Activities Coordinator with:
    1. Preparation and implementation of events and activities
    2. Assist with shopping for activity supplies
  12. Maintain communication through tribal cell phone.
  13. Responsible to report immediately all accidents, driver infractions and/or mechanical problems
  14. Maintain confidentiality and confidential files in all matters concerning client.
  15. Assist with answering telephone calls and take accurate messages.
  16. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
 
Position Requirements

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED required. Some experience designing recreational programs for elderly is preferred
  2. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.
  3. Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder Youth License Requirements as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
  4. Computer knowledge required (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  5. Previous experience with publishing and creative software preferred.
  6. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  7. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  8. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
  9. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
  10. Ability to drive a 14- passenger bus is required
  11. Must be sensitive to needs of elderly and other resource people.
  12. Must have good organizational skills and public communication skills
  13. Must be able to follow verbal and written directions.
  14. Must have some knowledge of Indian culture and history.
  15. Must be willing to attend all applicable training. Must complete Serve Safe Certification.
  16. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
