Systems Engineer II 

Description

This position will architect, manage, and deploy network and server based systems to support the Business and IT functions, and allow for frictionless member experience.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Manage, deploy, and test dedicated network hardware such as routers, switches, access points, and other IoT devices.
  • Administer the network and assist the cyber team is support of their specialized systems (e.g., intrusion detection/protection systems, anti-virus, and content blacklists) for cyber defense applications.
  • Perform system administration of Virtualized environments and Windows and Linux based servers, to include installation, configuration, maintenance, backup and restoration.
  • Monitor vendor and third party relationships
  • Engage with internal and external partners to help design, test, and implement state-of-the-art secure operating systems, applications, networks, and database products/solutions.
  • Assists in the planning, design and implementation of network and server based systems created to safeguard access to resources, enterprise networks, computer systems, and data elements.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technologies and integrate new methods and tools as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical knowledge of server and network systems with emphasis on VMWare, Windows, Ubuntu, Cisco, and Meraki
  • Technical knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies, including Virtual Private Network (VPN) security, wireless networking, and firewall security.
  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud based services such as Azure, AWS, and Office 365
  • Knowledge and experience with services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
  • Knowledge of network traffic analysis (tools, methodologies, processes), packet-level analysis and web filtering technologies

 

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in network or systems administration.
  • Professional Certifications preferred: CCNA, CCNP, MCSE.
