About the Organization Cornerstone Energy Services, Inc. provides engineering, survey and land services to the energy infrastructure marketplace. We provide a broad range of services critical to the initial phases of projects, right through completion and documentation. These services include: process, civil, mechanical and I&E engineering, project management, survey and mapping, and Right-of-Way acquisition. We have expertise and experience in both long linear projects as well as single-site facilities. Our clients are developers and operators of oil and gas pipelines and electric transmission lines.

Position Requirements

DESIGNER II

Essential Functions:

• Read, interpret & apply engineering terminology & symbols.
• Hold practiced knowledge of industry standard design software (AutoCAD family of products).
• Perform complex calculations & use standard tables to determine dimensions, scale, linear & angular
measurements.
• Produce complex 3D designs of sites, facilities, pipelines, foundations & other required elements of energy
infrastructure systems.
• Create &/or modify CAD material specifications for use in 3D design deliverables as applicable to project
requirements.
• Prepare complex & difficult electrical, mechanical, or civil working plans, detail drawings, schematics, dimensional
representations & as-built records; develop & arrange layouts (e.g. PFDs, P&IDs, scaled equipment layouts, and equipment details).
• Strive continually to complete all assigned tasks &/or projects on time & within allocated budget.
• Exercise discretion & judgment & apply design principles to meet project challenges.
• Adhere to company and industry design and drafting standards.
• May assist the Drafting & Design (D&D) Coordinator and/or Senior Designers in reviewing the work of other
Designers and/or Drafters for accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Work alongside the Engineering team to design complex drawings, such as P&ID, construction documents,
routine design layouts, detailed drawings, equipment skid and piping
• Prepare and work with bills of material (BOMs) and other construction documents.
• Develop equipment/material schedules and material takeoffs, from drawings or sketches. Support preparation of
requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors, as directed.
• Attend & contribute within design review meetings as required.
• May lead Designer I or drafters on project-specific needs, under the direction and guidance of the D&D
Coordinator or Senior Designers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the D&D Coordinator, Senior Designers, the Engineering &/or Project Management team. 


Work Environment
• Duties are largely performed in an office.
• Office work may include prolonged seated tasks, extended keyboarding, and use of computer screen.
• May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
• Position requires travel (expected to be less than 20%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record
required. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, use hands, reach, talk and hear.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25
pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability
to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Demonstrate the ability to perform all key requirements of a Designer I.
• Must have excellent computer/internet skills & advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, &
Outlook.
• Working knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure design.
• Ability to learn & adapt to complex tasks or assignments quickly.
• Ability to adhere to company and industry design and drafting standards.
• Ability to communicate efficiently within a dynamic design team, often with contacts external to home office
location.
• The ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions. 


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
• Bachelor or Associates degree in a related field or applicable certificate of completion from an accredited
designer/drafter curriculum.
• Two to five years of experience developing complex 3D models & 2D designs in a related field, or equivalent
knowledge.
• Ability to solve complex problems and strive for innovative approaches to the design maturity process.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, CADWorx &/or Plant 3D, and Civil 3D. 
• Experience with other 3D software such as Revit is a plus.
