Peer Support Specialist-Mental Health Services - part-time

Description

Individual must assist in creating a recovery environment and acting as an advocate for the needs and rights of individuals participating in outpatient mental health services, crisis stabilization services, crisis services, and/or psycho-social rehabilitation services. Candidate must be willing to share about personal lived experience with mental health and recovery serving as a role model for recovery, wellness and self-advocacy as well as provide education on wellness and recovery and clarify and enhance self-advocacy skills. Must establish and maintain peer a relationship and partner with the individual to facilitate recovery dialogues. Candidate must pursue and complete certification as a peer support specialist in Virginia and be willing to travel for required trainings and job duties. Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.

 
Position Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified Peer Recovery Specialist preferred. Individual must have personal knowledge and be willing to share his/her unique experience and perspective on recovery from behavioral health challenges. Candidate must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, Candidate must have the ability pass all CMCS background screenings.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
