General Summary:

Astronics Test Systems is seeking a skilled and motivated Buyer to join our Supply Chain Team. The Buyer will play a key role in procuring technical components, materials, and services required for the design and manufacturing of our test equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for working cross-functionally to source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and project management, to understand technical requirements and define procurement strategies for the business.
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of any issues or concerns.
3. Resolves conflicts related to inventory, quality, delivery, and invoicing.
4. Maintains adequate documentation to support government/customer contractual requirements, including but not limited to various reports and audit documentation.
5. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations related to procurement activities.
6. Analyze and understand requirements for complex electro-mechanical and Electro-Optics subassemblies.
7. Sources and qualifies new suppliers and assists existing suppliers to improve in areas of cost and quality through continuous improvement plans and techniques.
8. Support the business in achieving its strategic objectives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
9. Participate in supplier quality surveys and supplier performance rating reporting.

Basic Qualifications (must have):

1. Proven experience as a buyer or similar procurement role, preferably in manufacturing
2. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
3. Experience in using procurement ERP software (Intuitive a bonus)
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
5. Intermediate or better Microsoft Office skills.
6. This person must be a US person.

Education/Experience:

1. Master’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field and 1-2 years of experience
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field and 3-5 years of experience
3. 5-7 years of experience

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
