Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in our 5th decade in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. First founded in 1968, the high school opened in 1973, and has maintained its core mission of maximizing the God-given potential of each student, preparing them to live lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ. We are seeking a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth in early childhood, desiring them to grow in their understanding of subject matter with a biblical perspective. Beyond preparing lessons and grading assignments, this applicant will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This teacher will report directly to the Elementary Principal. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES: Education & Certification Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master's Degree preferred. State teaching certification preferred. Attain an ACSI 2-year Temporary Certificate within the first year of employment and an ACSI Standard Certificate in your teaching discipline within 3 years of employment. Experience: Training in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and best practices in teaching is required. Prior teaching experience preferred. Skills: Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods. Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of FACTS a plus. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES Display a deep knowledge of early childhood development. Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to pre-kindergarten students. Display the ability to teach children about core concepts, such as numbers, letters, shapes, and colors. Use creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling. Encourage and monitor appropriate social interaction of students. Promote student engagement to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student. Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom as well as instruction while monitoring and managing students' behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules. Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Administrator/Principal. Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior. Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.   This position is currently not accepting applications.
