Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the PCC Lead Ombudsman, this position’s primary purpose is to advocate for the needs of the minors in care at PCC. Specifically, the Ombudsman responds to and seeks resolution of grievances submitted by minors in care and coordinates feedback from minors so that feedback is incorporated in and instructs all care and programs of PCC.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a thorough knowledge and serve PCC in order to respond to and champion the needs of minors in care.
  • Manages assigned tasks within the PCC Suggestion and Grievance process, assuring compliance with ORR regulations regarding resolution within 5 days of all grievances filed by minors in care.
  • Meet with minors as assigned within 24 hours of receipt of a formal grievance – whether in paper or electronic form.
  • Participate as assigned in creation of resolutions to the grievances presented by minors – coordinating as needed with other departments.
  • Input accurate and timely records of all suggestions and grievances received into the Visionlink system.
  • Scan and file any grievance signed by a minor and the related resolution form into the minor’s official digital record prior to the minor’s discharge.
  • Provide logistical support and record data during the weekly Director’s Town Hall process.
  • Collate and record all suggestions or needs for follow-up after the Town Hall.
  • Complete of all required weekly reporting on feedback received, integrating data from all sources of feedback, including but not limited to: Suggestion Forms, Formal Grievances, Town Hall discussions and discharge satisfaction surveys.
  • Assist as needed with collecting discharge satisfaction surveys from minors leaving care.
  • Write updates for minors regarding the suggestions provided and oversee production of a response video to be shared weekly on PCC-TV.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate Exceptional customer service, in Everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to "Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities."

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE: 1+ year(s) experience in working with children in shelter setting. Experience in customer service or human services advocacy a plus. Experience working with programs funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement a strong plus.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. The Ombudsman must be 21 years or older. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
