GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Greets, instructs, directs and schedules patients and visitors. Serves as liaison between patients and medical support staff.

  1. Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
  2. Responds to routine requests for information and screens visitors appropriately.
  3. Verifies and updates necessary information and records into computer system and/or medical record.
  4. Prepares charts in an efficient and organized manner with all pertinent information for patient appointments.
  5. Responsible for generating charts and daily physician schedules for following day.
  6. Responsible for confirming appointments for the following day.
  7. Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities.
Position Requirements


  1. One-year related work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
  3. Word processing and computer experience.


  1. Knowledge of medical business office procedures.
  2. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information.
  3. Skill in operating a computer, fax machine, and photocopy machine.
  4. Skill in greeting patients and answering telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  5. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  6. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  7. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
