Pavement Marking Tech II (Apex only) 



Position will be expected to efficiently and effectively operate, maintain, repair and troubleshoot equipment assigned to crew. This position will also be expected to provide safe and productive supervision of crew during Pavement Marking Technician III’s absence.


Ability to read and understand basic striping plans and perform needed layout including intersections markings. Ability to communication with contractors, DOT inspectors, and all field personnel under your supervision. Ability to complete daily required paperwork. Understand quantities and yield conversions.

  • Implement striping plans and perform needed layout including intersection markings
  • Install Cold Applied Plastic and Preformed Thermoplastic to job specification
  • Operate and maintain all hand equipment including grinding equipment
  • Operate and maintain pavement marking equipment
  • Install acceptable crew specific pavement markings, to include, but not limited to, paint, thermoplastic, and markers
  • Follows and enforces all safety rules and regulations and wears proper safety equipment (to include, but not limited to, work boots – 6 inches with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest)
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements


  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; moving equipment and machinery parts; moving traffic, and fumes and airborne particles
  • Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate/loud
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • Good vision and hearing required along with ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs



  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • CDL or ability to obtain, good driving record
  • Pass a DOT drug screen
  • Pass a DOT Physical
  • Pass a criminal background screen
  • Hold or ability to obtain required industry certifications, i.e. pavement marking certification, flagger, forklift, work zone installer, OSHA 10/30
  • Weekly assignments vary locally and throughout Central & Eastern NC
  • Work schedules may include days, nights, and weekend work; Per Diem for meals and hotel expense paid when overnight travel is required. Shift premium paid for night work
