Job Summary:

The Photograph Archive Processing Intern will assist the department by processing a photograph collection at the Margaret Herrick Library. Processing provides hands-on experience working with photographic materials. This collection focuses primarily on actors and actresses from the mid- to late-20th Century and consists mainly of production and publicity photographs.

 

This is a limited term internship position beginning in June 2024 through August 2024. The hourly wage for this role is $16.78.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize and rehouse the assigned collection.
  • Create inventory records.
  • Research names and titles as needed.
  • Work with different databases as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Undergraduate (junior or senior) or community college student in good academic standing
  • A minimum of 2.8 GPA
  • Ability to work on-site in Beverly Hills required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and move moderately heavy boxes.
  • Knowledge of American film history, with broad awareness of major film artists.
  • Coursework in library and information science, film studies, American studies, or a related field preferred.

This internship is part of the Academy’s Gold Rising program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
