About the Organization Cornerstone Energy Services, Inc. provides engineering, survey and land services to the energy infrastructure marketplace. We provide a broad range of services critical to the initial phases of projects, right through completion and documentation. These services include: process, civil, mechanical and I&E engineering, project management, survey and mapping, and Right-of-Way acquisition. We have expertise and experience in both long linear projects as well as single-site facilities. Our clients are developers and operators of oil and gas pipelines and electric transmission lines.

Position Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Prepare calculations, schematic designs, layouts, reports, etc. for Energy infrastructure projects involving oil, gas, LNG, CNG, and propane systems and equipment.
  • Contribute to teams that help clients meet the challenges of energy delivery system operation and development.
  • Utilize various computer programs for data and information gathering, formula calculations, various studies and report generating and prepares written reports.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships to ensure high client satisfaction. Educate and provide support to internal and external customers to resolve concerns, problems, and complaints, including training new employees on engineering job duties and using related equipment and software.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to plan and design project.
  • Direct and supervise work of drafters, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Project engineering that may include writing equipment specifications, sizing and evaluation of equipment, writing project reports, project scheduling, preparation of project cost estimates, the economic evaluation of projects, etc.
  • Develop equipment/material schedules and material takeoffs from drawings or sketches.
  • Support preparation of requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors as directed.
  • Lead technical staff and/or junior engineers.
  • Works under general supervision of more senior staff.
  • Shows independence in determining the approach for assigned tasks.
  • Progress toward engineer licensure.
  • Although not the primary responsibility of this position, when needed, an Engineer II has the ability to perform the responsibilities identified in the Engineer I job description.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in office and field settings.
  • Office work may include prolonged seated tasks, extended keyboarding, and use of computer screen.
  • Field settings may include work outdoors and on construction sites during all weather conditions.
  • May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
  • Position may require travel (up to 75%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record required.

Physical requirements

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, use hands, reach, talk and hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and practices and the ability to apply them.
  • Proven experience in solving complex problems, identifying alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations to support goals.
  • Well-reasoned decision making with a high attention to detail regarding organization, planning, work flow, and project prioritization to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers, field survey teams, designers, and/or drafters to complete project tasks.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
  • Engineering discipline-specific software knowledge is required.
  • Excellent computer/internet skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Outlook are required.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, electrical, survey, or mechanical engineering.
  • 2 – 7 years of experience.
  • EIT or Engineer Intern Certificate required.
  • Meaningful operations or construction experience required.
