POSITION PURPOSE

The Community Development Officer at Central Willamette Credit Union (CWCU) is pivotal in executing strategies that bolster CWCU's presence in the community. This role involves enhancing our brand through initiatives in financial literacy, public relations, governmental affairs, and community investment. The Community Development Officer will collaborate with various stakeholders to support an array of community organizations, aligning with CWCU's mission to contribute to the public good.

The Community Development Officer role is a dynamic and engaging position that requires a dedicated individual committed to making a difference in the communities CWCU serves. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and a passionate advocate for financial education and community betterment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Education & Literacy Advocacy:
    • Expand our financial literacy initiatives by organizing educational sessions, coordinating with trainers, managing educational materials, and conducting participant surveys. Step into the role of trainer as required.
  • Affinity Card Relationship Enhancement:
    • Strengthen the affinity card program by increasing the number of participating entities and on-site promotional opportunities.
  • Advocacy Support:
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of CWCU's credit union advocacy efforts.
  • Community Outreach Coordination:
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to promote CWCU's community engagement through various channels, ensuring proper documentation and reporting of contributions and sponsorships.
  • Impact Reporting:
    • Lead the process of community impact measurement, including tracking, reporting, and reconciling the related budget.
  • Content Development:
    • Assist in the creation of materials showcasing CWCU's community impact, ranging from PowerPoint presentations to social media content.
  • Event Representation:
    • Act as CWCU's ambassador at community and educational events, enhancing our brand's visibility and connection with the community.
  • Strategic Partnership Liaison:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for CWCU's community strategic partners.
  • Philanthropic Management:
    • Oversee the strategy for CWCU's charitable donations and grants in line with our strategic objectives and budget.
  • Networking and Advocacy:
    • Represent the CWCU brand at various business, community, education, and legislative events to foster relationships and advocate for the credit union's interests.
  • Performs all responsibilities in accordance with CW Values, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Attend training and comply with CWCU policies and procedures as well as applicable State and Federal regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bilingual – Spanish preferred
  • Fluency in community affairs and communications best practices.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and communication skills.
  • Event planning skills which include excellent organization, carrying out multiple tasks at the same time, thorough and clear communication with all event stakeholders, creative problem solving and high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both with direction and independently.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, education, or comparable field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Has 3 to 5 years’ experience in community development, marketing, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with financial literacy concepts and the credit union industry preferred but not required.
