The responsibility of the Utility Inspector is to ensure that water, natural gas, and sewer systems of new construction and repairs on existing infrastructure are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and ordinances. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing construction drawings, conducting inspections of water, natural gas, and sewer line construction, coordinating work activities, maintaining records, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Conducts daily inspections and GIS data collection of internal and external utility work.
Reviews initial water, natural gas, and sewer construction plans/drawings for compliance with approved specifications and ordinances.
Conducts site inspections of water, natural gas, and sewer main construction and repair to assure that contracted work is completed according to City of Thomasville specifications.
Receives and/or prepares reports, correspondences, forms and other documentation.
Reviews, processes, maintains records, and other clerical duties associated with utilities.
Performs routine inspections of grease traps.
Uses of various software programs to operate a computer in an effective and efficient manner.
Utilizes GIS data for research pertaining to utilities.
Collects utility data, as assigned, for GIS.
Coordinates and works with Civil Engineering.
Coordinates, works, and trains with GIS/City Works Trainer.
Performs field inventories when required.
GPS new points, add new data, and edit existing data in field.
Performs analysis on data in support of city projects.
Works extra hours as deemed necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
