Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, this position will assist with overseeing the work of the custodial team and assist with preventative maintenance and upkeep of the three Academy facilities to the highest standards.  This is a non-union position.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the custodial team.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of Academy facilities.
  • Make minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Repairing or replacing sinks, faucets, toilets, and soap dispensers.
  • Maintain, adjust, and repair doors, door hardware, doorknobs, and related items.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of the buildings, grounds, equipment, machinery, and sidewalks and make cleaning and maintenance recommendations for improvement to supervisor.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, and visitors.
  • Assist with training and evaluating personnel.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner in conformance with the AMPAS safety programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Shift/Schedule

  • We are currently hiring day and swing shifts; precise work times are TBD. Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and a flexible schedule, when required e.g. during emergencies.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
  • Preferred: 1 - 2 years of experience as a lead/supervisor
  • Two year of work experience in general building maintenance or demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools (such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measures, electronic/electronic testing devices), and knowledge of and ability to properly use specialized equipment, including that used in one or more of the trades of electrical, plumbing or general carpentry.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience is a plus.
  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required equivalent qualifications.
  • Knowledge of safe and correct handling cleaning supplies; materials, tools, equipment, and methods used in the custodial trade, and in the repair and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and training others is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable Cal-OSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Modern cleaning methods, including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, whiteboards, carpets, furniture, walls, fixtures, locker rooms, and restrooms.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in fluctuating temperatures. Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.

The expected starting salary range for this role is $25.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
