Description

The Cross Regional Afterschool and Summer Meals Specialist will play a critical role in achieving the mission of the CAFB to create access to good, healthy food in every community. This position will support the work of the ASM team through the administration of federal child nutrition programs; working with the regional Maryland, DC and Virginia Afterschool & Summer Meals Coordinators & Specialists to schedule and oversee completion of site reviews and continuity of materials such as trainings, SOPs, and guidelines across regions; Ensuring that the master site review schedule meets federal compliance requirements, that all are completed in a timely manner, and will record and review completed site review paperwork; Supporting the development of a cross regional ASM partner site outreach and expansion initiative, including identifying key partner sites, qualities, and locations, and conducting outreach to strategically expand ASM program.


Essential Functions:

Program Administration- 50%

  • Creates and monitors master site review schedule for MD, DC and VA

  • Conducts federally required site visits as needed for program compliance and delegates visits to regional coordinators

  • Provides practical and technical support to sites in-person, by phone, and email.

  • Coordinates with other regional Afterschool and Summer Meals Coordinators & Specialists on tasks as assigned and determines best practices to improve the child nutrition programs

  • Oversees development and upkeep of team SOP documents

  • Develops tools to streamline practices and organization across regions

Community-based Site Management- 50%

  • Strengthens relationships with sites by providing onsite support during site visits, or referring questions to the appropriate regional staff

  • Plans and co-leads support trainings for Link2Feed, our client intake software, as needed

  • Determines best practices for ASM team outreach and program impact

  • Supports the development of ASM team outreach strategy and process

  • Builds relationships with community partners to expand reach of ASM team

Miscellaneous

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements
  • At least AA degree +1-3 years of work experience in a related field

  • Must have reliable transportation

 

Other Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of DMV community and federal nutrition programs strongly preferred

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work professionally with a diverse constituent base

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Presents a professional appearance and demeanor

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Requires standing, sitting, typing, and driving

Reporting:

  • This role reports to the Director, Family Government Nutrition Programs

Schedule:

  • Normal working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday
  • Hybrid schedule available

Compensation:

  • Compensation is $52,000 to $58,000 annually
