This includes managing the movement of vehicles, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and prepared for use. Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Help Rail car logistics Coordinator Manage the 85+ rail car spots within the plant (and railcars outside the fence) by understanding when railcars need to be in the plant to meet the production schedule. The yard manager is responsible for overseeing the movement and storage of goods and vehicles in the yard. The yard manager regularly inspects the yard to ensure that all equipment and facilities are in good working order. They work closely with the area supervisors to ensure that goods are delivered on time and in good condition. The yard manager is responsible for ensuring that the yard is always organized and clean. Confirm lab results with blending/production each morning to manage delays that happen due to off-spec products. Coordinate railcar spots and transloading requirements to meet customer’s demands. Research and recommend steps that should be taken to manage our rail car business more efficiently. (Could be reports, communication improvements, or technology improvements) Scan all associated documentation in a timely manner to close out orders. Help manage ISO/TT inventory and the railcar fleet by taking a physical inventory of and maintaining the location of railcars within the plant. Keep records of customer interaction and transactions. Observe all safety policies and procedures. Participate in plant safety processes and immediately report any unsafe conditions. Remain current on the requirements of the Quality Program ensure that your actions support the Quality Policy towards continual improvement. Monitor temperatures and movements of containers to and from the steam rack. Establish and maintain a numbering system for the trailer yard. Be able to be a short-term back-up for the rail logistics coordinator. Operate the track mobile and yard mule proficiently. Execute all necessary movements on the daily switch list. Exhibits and practices the Third Coast Way fundamental behaviors. Skills and Competencies: Minimum 2 years’ experience with Rail Switching and Track mobile operations. Detail oriented with excellent organization skills. Proficient in working with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, and Chempax. Ability to work within a team or independently as required Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are required Professional and courteous behavior Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The team member is occasionally required to sit. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds. Able to climb on railcars/ISO containers to check seals if necessary.
