Description

The Capital Area Food Bank is seeking a Donor Services Manager who will advance organizational goals by leading our Donor Services team and help support direct marketing campaigns to drive forward Development goals and operations. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our gift acceptance practices, donor relations work, improve reporting, and processes to ensure more effective donation processing while working closely with our platform and direct marketing consultants to maximize the capabilities and align with our business practices. This role will also oversee and manage the food bank’s relationship with its lock-box company.

Leadership and Team Management – approx. 20%

  • Lead and inspire a team of Donor Services Representatives to effectively process gifts, record key data, and begin the stewardship process.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to ensure high-quality donor interactions and a superb donor experience.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment to enhance productivity and morale.

Donor Data Management – approx. 35%

  • Collaborate with our Salesforce and Classy consultants to maximize the effective use of both platforms.
  • Streamline donor data management, reporting, and analytics through Salesforce and Classy tools.
  • Display proficiency with CRMs and able to implement key data updates and upgrades toward our long-term CRM and donor data strategy.
  • Ensure the team is trained and proficient in utilizing Salesforce and Classy features for donor engagement and tracking.
  • Establish performance measures/KPIs to monitor and evaluate donor services and gift processing functions
  • Generate regular reports on supporter engagement, contributions, and other relevant metrics.
  • Analyze data trends to make informed decisions regarding donor engagement strategies.

Direct Marketing Campaign Management – approx. 25%

  • Coordinate and help execute the food bank’s direct marketing efforts to drive and implement direct marketing campaigns
  • Assist Senior Director of Development draft annual direct marketing budget
  • Ensure all direct marketing data including campaign results, costs and correspondence/conversations with donors is recorded in the database timely and accurately
  • Coordinate Sales Force and Classy campaign development in coordination with the food bank’s direct marketing agency
  • Implement best practices in Salesforce/Classy utilization to improve overall performance.
  • Help execute key operational functions including coordination of invoices and payments to vendors in concert with the finance department

Donor Relationship and Gift Acceptance Management – approx. 20%

  • Drive strong interactions with donors, ensuring exceptional donor experiences through the donor services team.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Development and other team members to ensure the Donor Services team has the appropriate training, talking points and resources to be successful.
  • Oversee the acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship processes to express gratitude to donors effectively.
  • Monitor donor feedback and implement strategies to address concerns and improve donor satisfaction.
  • Help process gifts, particularly complex or planned gifts, and donor requests in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work collaboratively with different departments including finance, development, programs, operations and marketing/communications for effective gift acceptance and donor relations.
  • Continuously assess and enhance donor services processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify areas for automation and work with internal and external resources to implement appropriate solutions.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent in experience;
  • At least 5+ years of professional fundraising, development, community engagement and/or advancement experience in an office environment;
  • Demonstrated success managing a team against key KPIs
  • Experience with direct marketing campaigns and other interactive platforms for soliciting donations.
  • Strong understanding of databases, including Salesforce or a similar fundraising CRM platform.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

  • Some understanding of organizational financials and experience in program budget development preferred;
  • Demonstrated project management and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team;
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, respect for priorities and effective collaboration skills with colleagues and partners.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolong periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lit 15 pounds at a time.

Reporting:

  • This role reports to the Sr Dir of Development in Fundraising

Schedule: 

  • Normal working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday 
  • Hybrid schedule available 

Compensation:

  • Compensation is $78,000 to $83,000/annually
